Canopy Tent Maintenance & Care Tips
Canopy Tent Maintenance & Care Tips
Canopy maintenance and care is important for the long term use. Here are some basic tips on cleaning the canvas top fabric and frame structure.
Apply Stain RepellentOne important tip, apply a stain and repellent solution such as Scotchguard to the fabric top of the tent. You can pick this up at any Lowe’s or Home Depot or other retailers such as Walmart, Target or Amazon. Spray on generously to help prevent dirt stains and water penetration. Cleaning FabricCleaning your canvas top is a cinch. Simply use warm water, add dish washing soap or hand soap and use a soft bristle brush. Cleaning FrameKeeping your frame clean is essential to the aesthetic appearance and utilization of your tent. For steel and aluminum frames, use soap and water and scrub with a soft-medium bristle brush and wipe. You can also use solutions such as Simple Green to remove harder stains. Storing CanopyStorage and carry bags are made of polyester fabric therefore, you can use solutions such as Simple Green or soap and water as well. Although the fabric is durable, exposure to the elements can affect the fabric material and cause deterioration over a long period of time, so keep the bags free of moisture and in dry spaces. |

Proper Use & Storing of Your Canopy
Setting Up Your CanopyWhen setting up the frame to “open mode”, be sure to only use your hands to lower the leg to its set position. Lift with one hand, and pull down with the other. Do not use your foot to push down on the leg, as it may cause leg to bend. Breakdown & FoldingWhen taking down tent, be sure all locking, leg pins are released and disengaged prior to folding tent. This will prevent damage to the frame structure. We also recommend two people standing on opposite sides of the frame with each person holding the “V” shape part of the truss structure for a more firm and stable grip. Using OutdoorsFor indoor use, weighing down the tent isn’t as critical if sitting on carpet. However if you have a heavy floor traffic and the tent is sitting on slippery concrete, wood or tile, we recommend you add sand bags or weights to keep the structure from shifting or moving slightly. Storing Your CanopyWhen storing tent inside the carry-bag or wheeled bag, make sure the canvas top is dry prior to storing it. This will prevent mildew and water stains from forming on the fabric. Always store your tent in dry spaces. Remember, pop-up tents are temporary structures and are not meant to be left unattended or permanently opened up outdoors. Take precautions, and follow these simple steps to ensure you get many years of use from your Kittrich Canopy Tent. |
