Canopy Maintenance Guide for Preserving Your Investment

Canopy Maintenance Guide for Preserving Your Investment

After investing in a canopy for your business, you’ll want to ensure it lasts. Proper maintenance prolongs the lifespan of your canopy. With the right care, the canopy will look new and fresh for years to come. Canopy maintenance involves cleaning the fabric, the frame and preventing stains. Safe storage is also key for a long-lasting canopy.

Cleaning the Fabric

You only need soap and water to clean the fabric of the canopy. To prevent dirt, dust and other particles from building up, wash with warm soapy water every 4-6 months. Begin by stretching out the canopy fully – but avoid laying it on the ground. If there’s any stains or marks, use a soft bristle brush to gently scrub. You want as much natural light and air to hit the fabric while it’s drying to minimize the risk of mold growth.

Cleaning the Frame

It’s important to keep the frame clean for the overall appearance and function of your canopy. You can use soap, water and soft or medium bristle brush to gently scrub the frame. For tough stains that aren’t easily removed with just soap and water, opt for a safe solution like Simple Green.

Storing the Canopy

Once you’ve carefully disassembled the tent, ensure it’s fully dry before placing it in a storage bag. Keep the canopy in the bag when it’s not in use. While the polyester storage bags are durable and designed to protect the canopy, exposure to moisture in the bag can cause the canopy to deteriorate. Be sure to place the storage bag in a space free from all moisture.

Helpful Tips

Here are a few additional tips to preserve your canopy and help you get the most use out of it:

Apply a stain repellent (like Scotchgarde) to the fabric of the canopy
Don’t let rain pool on the fabric of the canopy
Address any rips or snags that may occur before they become bigger issues
Check the frame for loose bolts or fasteners

Be sure to keep your canopy frame and tent clean by following these simple maintenance steps to ensure you get many years of use from your Kittrich Canopy Tent.
